The official statement reveals that the series is set up in the utopian Piltover and the underground of Zaun and will star the two iconic League Champions Vi and Jinx.

Netflix’s original series was set to be released in 2020, but due to pandemic, it was delayed to 2021.

As per THR, Netflix’s original animation director Dominique Bazay said, “League of Legends has inspired global fervour and fandom and we’re thrilled to be of the first television series set in this universe, Arcane. The series promised to be a visually spectacular thrill ride that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Riot Games global president of entertainment Shauna Spenley said, “Arcane was created as a love letter to our players and fans, who have been asking us for more cinematic experiences that drive deeper into the worlds and champions in League of Legends. Netflix with its incredible global brand and the shared goal of delivering premium high-quality content is the perfect partner to help us bring Arcane to players around the globe.”

The popular esports game developed and published by Riot Games was released in 2009 and has more than tens of millions of active users. The game was inspired by Defense of the Ancients, a custom map for Warcraft III. Riot’s founder then created a standalone game in the same genre. It is a free-to-play game that monetized $1.75 billion in 2020.
