DEMOSCENE PARTY- A NEW ART SUBCULTURE TO BE INTRODUCED AT SIGGRAPH ASIA 2019

Australia is gearing up in full force for SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 with outstanding line-up for speakers and one of the most exciting exhibition showcases to date with a wide range of exhibitor talks and workshops covering multiple disciplines.

SIGGRAPH Asia Brisbane will introduce the “Demoscene Party”, an international computer art subculture focused on producing demos: self-contained, sometimes extremely small, computer programs that produce audio-visual presentations.  The purpose of a demo is to show off programming, visual art, and musical skills. Demos and other demoscene productions are shared at festivals known as demoparties, voted on by those who attend, and released online. The demoscene program consists of a demoscene talk and party which will be in the Exhibition Hall.

“The Demoscene programme fits well within the event’s overall theme of ‘Dream Zone’ since the act of converting your dreams into digital app is the act of demo”, says John Doon, Demoscene Chair SIGGRAPH Asia 2019. “At the party, you can expect demoparties, competition, a selection of your favourite demos, technical talks and retro museum”, he added.

SIGGRAPH ASIA 2019 will be held at Brisbane, Australia from 17th to 20th November 2019 at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Center.
